@ajn37
I was just kind of reviewing this site. i am so tied to this site. . .
more so than any other. I am going to watch the film you suggested.
So I will let u know my thoughts after i have watched it.
Hey. . . ajn37 just a question, or rather an observation.
I know you would agree. . . Emmett Till’s story should be required no
matter what time of year it is. You and I know just how important his story is.
@lolboya She speaks as if humans are fruit/crops. She is talking about the lynching that went on in America, and how there was just a disregard for human life.
@tobama08
Um. . . Just to Clarify. . . Strange Fruit is the most important poem that has
EVER been written. I do sincerely apologize for the caps. I’m Irish.
No offense intended. However, I will not debate with you any longer as to just how important this poem/song is– and why it is the most important protest song of the 20th C. If you don’t understand why, then I can’t help you on that matter
Hmmm. . . blacks had a “hard time” in the 50’s?? hmmm
Please go back to history. You might want to go back a “TAD”
earlier. Like a century or 2?? I’m hoping ur just being sarcastic
and an idiot.
@tobama08 Look man, you posted “It is THE MOST IMPORTANT song that has EVER BEEN SUNG. ” Thats what you said. Either stand by your comment or stand corrected.
We all know Stevie Nicks is a crap singer and Clapton can’t play guitar, but do people run around saying that Stevie Nicks is the WORST SINGER THAT HAS EVER SUNG or that Clapton is the WORST GUITARIST THAT HAS EVER PLAYED. No, because adults know how to express themselves without getting so upset they accidentally hit CAPS all the time.
Redemption is of Yisrael. You gentiles want to forget what your fathers have done and continue to do, but Yah has not! You all are in for it. Salvation in of Yisrael!
I cannot imagine that type of pain. She watched her brothers, fathers, uncles, die. I love this country, we have came a long way. Black, White, Latino, Women, Gay, Straight, etc. As a society, we have learned many lessons.
I cannot imagine that type of pain. Our country is an amazing country. Black, White, Latino, Gay, Straight, etc. We came a long way as a people. We are truly blessed, amaizng.
indeed the blacks had a hard time with racism in the 50s, but in the modern age we have a hard time not being seen as racists with our simple words, even though they have BET and NWA if we say the word black we are racists
i only wish i was there to have seen her perform live. she was a wonderful singer and her words send chills down my spine. thank u to whomever posted this vidoe. i love billie holiday.
Thanks ajn37. . . I so hope the film you suggest is the same one
that I saw in college. To be honest, I was so distraught by the film
I wanted to walk out. BUT, I also knew the gravity of Emmett’s story
told by his mother. I knew I couldn’t just walk out. Turning my back
on her story would be dismissing her son’s murder and her pain,
just so that I wouldn’t have to feel my own incredible sadness.
Needless to say. . . I stayed in my seat — listened and just cried.
The poem “Strang Fruit” was written by Abel Meeropol
a Jewish school teacher in New York city. He wrote it after
seeing a photograph of a public lynching of two black men
Thomas Shipp and Abram Smith. The photo haunted him for
weeks — the horror he felt resulted in the poem Strange Fruit.
Hey EnzoOfficie, I completely know what you meant by the
conditions of blacks in the south IN America. But there are
some on here who will not get what you mean. They will chastize
you for mis-speaking: i. e in South America. Eventhough, blacks were brutalized there as well: Strange Fruit expresses and exposes the realities of lynching in the south and deep south of the United States.
amazing. . . thank you billy. .
this is for entire humanity.

@tobama08 AGREED! I grew up listening to Billie Holiday. . . . this song never failed to enthrall and deeply sadden me. It me in my heart. . .
If that does not touch ones heart or give you a clear visual, nothing will.
A magnificent Lady.
