PostHeaderIcon Vacations are Just What the Doctor Ordered

Everyone enjoys taking a pass and exploring new places, but you might have even more reason to take some time off.   Vacations are the ideal way to reduce stress because they get you away from the each day demands and the things that make you anxious.   Dr. Tom Potisk states “I suggest frequent vacations as a vital component of wellness. “  As the author of Whole Health Healing: the Budget-Friendly Natural Wellness Bible for All Ages and generally known as the “Down-to-Earth” Physician he states that vacations can supply the two things that people need to thrive.   People need to give their mind and body time to rest, and they also need to go out and experience new things.   After a pass people come back feeling more energized, their immune system has been boosted, and they are even more creative in some aspects.   Dr. Potisk states that we all need vacations and he even instructs physicians around the country about the importance of vacations and emphasizes that they should be taking them as well.

There is even scientific data to back up his belief that vacations can help you superior manage your stress.   In an article published on September 17, 2008 in The Journal of the American Medical Association there is evidence to back up his claim.   There was a study conducted in which the subjects were men ranging in age from 35 to 57.   At the beginning of it none of the men had any signs of heart disease.   The study lasted for nine years and at the end of it the men in the group who took the most vacations were 29 percent less likely to be diagnosed with heart disease and 17 percent less likely to die than those who did not take regular vacations.   (The beneficial health effect of vacations remained valid after socioeconomic considerations and cardiovascular risk factors were taken into account. )  There is also countless other research that points to the fact that our health deteriorates if we do not take time to take a break.

Dr. Lyengar of the Bradenton Cardiology Center in Florida breaks down the science behind stress so that we might superior comprehend the effects of it on our bodies.   He states that stress usually happens in an acute phase meaning that it happens for a brief time.   As the physician explains it “you’re about to refrain a traffic accident, for example. Stress response is the body’s way of telling an individual to do something drastic at that moment. Your body releases hormones – adrenaline and cortisol – that help in the acute phase. The ‘fight or flight response’ is the body’s response to some sort of stimulus: it goes into anxious or hyper-reactive mode. “You stand your ground and ‘fight’ (in a manner of speaking), or take flight to survive. ”

Since it usually happens in short doses the body is not designed to handle chronic stress.   When you are constantly anxious about your job or your boss the fight or flight hormones are exposed to your body more than they should be.   The inflamed release of hormones causes long term alteration to the blood vessels.   This is evidence that stress is linked to heart disease and that if you are genetically inclined to heart disease this will only make it worse.

Women are especially in need of vacations as they constantly manage multiple responsibilities.   Heart disease is known as the “silent killer” in women, so they need a break just as much as men do.   Dr. Lyengar states that managing your stress can be a justifiable reason to take a vacation.   Especially is you have previous medical conditions such as diabetes, obesity, or high blood pressure stress will only make these worse so these people need to take even more care to take a vacation.

Certain personalities are also more in need of vacations than others because they are more at risk for stress related health problems.   “Type A personalities” are people that are always working and are very intractable in what they do.   These people find it hard to go on pass and stay away as they are always trying to fit in some kind of work during their holiday.   Working on pass does not grant you to reap the full benefits of time away.   In order to relieve your stress on a pass you need to absolutely separate yourself from work or any other each day pressures that you encounter.   A pass is time for you to try something completely new, so take advantage of it.

A change of scenery is imperative for pass benefits to have a full effect.   If you stay in the same area where you are constantly exposed to the stress of each day life you are not really taking a break.   Also, you should not go from one demanding situation to another one on vacation.   Do what is effective stress management for you, a pass should not make you even more tense if that is the case then you should find a different destination.

The book Stressed? Anxiety? Your Cure is in the Mirror by Dr. Murray Grossan sheds light on the topic of stress and how people have dealt with it historically.   Each culture during each time period has had a so called “vacation spot” according this book.   Whether that meant heading out to get some clean fresh air somewhere, enjoying a hot spring, or traveling somewhere new to see the sights there was a place for people to go to take a break.   Just 100 years ago they did not tell people to take a pill for any ills that they had instead they would go to a pass “spa. ”

Dr. Grossan states that a pass can have you coming back with a “can do” attitude.   The rest and relaxation frees you from negative thoughts and that feeling of “I can’t. “  Feeling constant stress drains the body of good chemistry, but time away can grant this system to recover.   He states that a pass can both heal you and clear your head so that you can make superior decisions.   Some people think that a beach pass is the perfect dream vacation, and others have a different intent of the ideal holiday.   There really is not one that is superior than the other as long as you remove yourself from your regular situations.

In order to wage for the ideal stress relief before your pass be sure to tell people that you will be unavailable while on pass unless it is an emergency.   Also, be sure to leave your personal behind and distance yourself from using your phone.   It is ideal to pack as light as possible, and leave a day to adjust when you get home before going back to work.   In addition if you can try not to use clocks and just follow your body’s natural rhythm.   One other important thing to think about is to stay within the budget that you set for your pass so that you do not feel even more stressed about finances when you get home.

Nutritionist and registered dietitian Elaine Hastings offers some tips about what to take while on vacation.   You should try to refrain drinking a lot of alcohol or intake an excess of unhealthy food as this will leave you feeling sluggish and unhappy when you get home.   You do not want to feel bad about gaining weight, so opt for the healthy food options instead.   She states “try to equilibrise your rest with some physical activity, and take fruits, vegetables, and lean protein. “  If you follow these tips then you will come home feeling rested, refreshed, and revitalized.   So pick one of your favorite pass spots and head there for some much needed rest and relaxation.

PostHeaderIcon Naxos ? Best Travel Tip for Greek Island Beach Vacations

Naxos is the largest island in the Cyclades – the group of islands in the center of the Aegean. The island is eighteen miles in length and 12 miles wide and is oval in shape.

It is also the most fertile, and this makes it one of the most beautiful. But it is the miles of unbroken golden sandy beaches that attracts the majority of the thousands of summer tourists that flock to Naxos each year.

For the holidaymakers who can drag themselves away from the glorious beaches, Naxos provides a wealth of ancient Greek remains as well as plenty of Byzantine and Venetian history. The island’s capital, also called Naxos, has a Venetian fortress as well as an ancient Greek temple to Apollo.

This temple is usually the first thing that a tourist sees when visiting Naxos by ferry because it stands proudly on the tip of the island, marking the way into the busy ferry port. The temple dates back to 522 BC but its ruinous appearance is not because much of it has been lost to the passage of time, but rather because the ancients never completed building it.

Naxos town is very picturesque port with a maze of whitewashed streets and alleyways, designed with the frequent invasions from Aegean pirates in mind. Its typically Cycladic structure blends with the Venetian and each turning invites the visitor to explore.

With such romantic charm and mystique, it is tiny wonder that Naxos has long been favourite with writers and artists. Lord Byron visited in his youth and never forgot the experience, referring to it in his writings as the ‘Dream Island’ and often saying that he would love to return some day.

Naxos has 41 villages and most are worth exploring. They are found in the green fertile, valleys that are sandwiched between the rugged, arid mountains. Many of these are over 2000 feet high and the highest, Mount Zeus is 3,200 feet.

Naxos enjoys the economic rewards of being a tourist island but it does not depend on them for its prosperity. A great deal of farming takes place in its rich valleys and the cultivation of lemons is especially successful. In addition to lemons, Naxos produces cherries, pomegranates and other fresh fruit. It also produces olives, nuts and potatoes whilst its grapes make some of the ideal of Greek wines.

Naxos is deservedly favourite with discerning tourists but unlike nearby Mykonos, it is not in danger of being turned into a mass tourism resort. What has saved it from doing so is its demand of an international airport. There is however an excellent airfield providing domestic flights and some tourists, mainly Greek holidaymakers, arrive in Naxos this way, flying from Athens. The majority of tourists arrive by ferry however, and there is no superior way to begin a Greek island holiday than this. You can canvass all the way from Athens but it will take at least six hours. Or you can fly to Mykonos and get on a ferry that takes only two hours. Both options have their pros and cons. We flew to Mykonos one year only to find all the ferries were booked. Another travel tip, whichever route you choose, is to be careful that you get off at the right island. The first time we visited Naxos, we misheard a landing declaration and got off the ferry only to see a sign that read ‘Welcome to Paros’. Luckily, we had enough time to re-board and complete the remaining minutes of the journey to neighboring Naxos.

PostHeaderIcon Discount Summer Vacations

If you are interested in taking a summer vacation, but you are concerned with the cost, you are not alone.   A massive number of individuals and families wish to take a summer vacation, but, due to the cost of many, most are unable to do so.   What many individuals and families change to think about is discount summer vacations.

Discount summer vacations do exist, but to many they are only a myth.   There are just some individuals who believe that there is no such thing as a discount summer vacation.   If they do believe that discount vacations exist, many adopt they are only to low-quality destinations.   If you are interested in taking a summer vacation, you are encouraged not to believe this favourite myth.

To find discounted summer vacations, all you have to do is a tiny bit of research.   Once you begin looking, you will likely see that discount summer vacations are obtainable, for even the most favourite summer pass destinations. Discount summer vacations are obtainable thanks to pass packages, online coupons, and price reductions.

Vacation destination packages are one of the most favourite ways that you or your family can save money when taking a summer vacation.   These packages are most often acquirable through a resort.   Theme park resorts, golf resorts, and beach resorts, all around the world, are likely to offer summer pass packages.   These packages might be considered all-inclusive or they might just cover a number of pass accommodations.   Vacation packages can easily be found online or by talking to a professional travel agent.

When it comes to discount vacations, most individuals receive a discount in the form of a price reduction.   Price reductions are often used as a last attempt to increase the number of vacationers at favourite hotels, restaurants, theme parks, or beaches. If you are searching for upfront discounts, in the form of price reductions, they can easily be found online or by directly contacting a hotel, restaurant, or theme park.

In addition to price reductions used to lure in additional vacationers, many favourite pass destinations offer price reductions to vacationing families.   Instead of paying full price for your children, you might be healthy to receive a substantial discount for them.   These discounts are often found at pass resorts, hotels, and theme parks. The cost of a family discount will depend on the destination.   However massive or small the discount, many families enjoy saving the money.

Online coupons are a great way to obtain a discount on your next summer vacation.   A massive number of pass destinations offer online coupons, as well as offline coupons.   Most world wide web users have the option of requesting a coupon booklet or they can obtain printable pass coupons.   The only downside to using coupons is that you must remember to take them with you when you set off to reach your pass destination.   Without them, you might be required to pay full price for all of your used services.

While discount vacations are obtainable, it is important to note that not all destinations can be vacationed at for a low price.   Despite what you might believe, many of the most favourite pass destinations offer valuable savings and discounts to travelers.   Popular summer pass destinations that can be visited for a low price include, but should not be limited to, the Caribbean, Mexico, Myrtle Beach, Bush Gardens, Six Flags, Disneyland, or Disney World.   Many times, you will end up paying more to pass at destination that is not as popular.

When searching for a low-cost summer pass destination, you can search using a number of methods.   If you already have a pass destination in mind, you can search for discounts being offered in or around your intended pass spot.   If you have yet to choose a destination, you can analyze the discounts acquirable and then make your decision.   Whichever method you select, you are sure to find valuable discounts that can be used on your next vacation.

PostHeaderIcon New Trend – Fitness Vacations

Vacation

More and more Americans are using their hard-earned vacations to get healthy and fit. In fact, fitness vacations are a hot trend – with push-ups replacing pina coladas and individualized trainers serving as your tour guides.

It makes sense, because people and especially women want to take superior care of themselves. But the key to getting the maximum benefits is to prepare yourself to work as hard as you can, learn a new way to take and exercise so when you come home the fat keeps coming off and stays off long-term.

Experts state that jump-starting a new fitness regime is actually easier on pass because you are not tempted by a full refrigerator or a cookie blow in the kitchen. Planning your meals becomes easier and if you select the right trainer to guide you, you will come home not only a few pounds lighter but also quite a bit wiser.

1.

Choose holiday destinations with plenty of physical activities. Instead of going to the usual tourist sight seeing trips abroad, select holiday activities that require you to burn calories and yet have fun.
2. Make sure the trainer takes a fitness assessment and tailor-makes a specific plan for you to follow.
3. Talk to the trainer before you head out of town and prepare everything you will need for your trip, so you have no excuses once you begin a new plan and no distractions.
4. Do something active each day, trying to incorporate different cardiovascular, flexibility, and strength exercises within the time you are away.
5. Make sure the trainer and staff conducting the activities you signed up for have the correct professional credentials or licenses.
6. Find out in advance the logistics behind the activities the establishment offers. How long does the activity last? How much training and or skill level is needed? What kind of equipment is needed? What is the road map for the activity? How innocuous is it?
7. Think about your individual needs. It’s important to take a fitness pass for the right reasons. Make sure the trip will grant you to return rested, relaxed, and with enough energy to resume your regular routine. Also, the trip should produce happy memories and peace of mind. And the ideal thing about your fitness vacation? You can deduct it from taxes! That’s right! Weight Loss fees are deductible! Since April 2, 2002 the IRS has considered (rev.rul.2002-19) costs associated with participation in a weight loss program for tax payers suffering from a weight-related disease as deductible expenses. The only caveat: you will need your doctor’s prescription to access this deduction. Happy Travels!

Vacation

What are the advantages that tropical vacations hold over their cold cousins? These islands are a great pick because they offer massive range of things to do, have a more broad appeal than a cold vacation, and are generally cheaper. Once the facts are brought to light, it is simple to see why tropical and warm locales are more desirable to go pass on.

Tropical vacations have sun, sand, and the massive type of activities that accompany the two. On a typical day at the beach one can: go boating, get sun on the beach, parasail, fish, fly a kite, play beach football and swim in the ocean. The possibilities are endless. Very rarely does bad weather appear. On a winter vacation, snow and cover can wreak havoc with plans, and that leaves your family without any options beyond staying in.

Being cooped|trapped up with bored kids in an enclosed space can be horrible.

A typical winter pass might include: skiing, snowboarding, sleigh rides, or sledding. A winter pass can't hope to match the versatility that a tropical pass can, and there are many more kid-friendly activities acquirable in tropical and warm locales.

When speaking about versatility, it is important to remember what massive families will think about the ideal vacation, because they are worth the most to travel agents. Families that travel want activities that their kids will love, and tropical vacations are built for kids. Tourist infrastructure and kid-friendly resorts are centered in tropical locations (Disney World, Sea World, etc.).

These same facilities also often offer separate activities for parents, where kids can go to a camp or activities for the day while parents can enjoy themselves on their own.

Winter vacations do not have that same type of range in options, and the ones they do offer are prohibitively expensive. Snowboarding and skiing require a lot of costly equipment, as well as having to buy for lift tickets.

Beyond the high price of equipment rentals and such, many pass packages that offer significant discounts cater to tropical vacations. Sites such as Expedia and Orbitz offer packages that include airfare, hotel, and automobile rental as well as amusement park entrances. These types of deals are more prevalent in tropical locales because they offer better-developed amenities and facilities that will bring more people, guaranteeing lower prices for vacationers. Unfortunately for winter locations, that same amount of development simply is not there yet.

For a family with children, a tropical pass offers the ideal bang for their buck. Not only do they offer the ideal activities for very young children, they offer activities and experiences that are fun to all ages. Even young adults can enjoy the sand or something on the boardwalk. And with the facilities acquirable to care for the kids during the day, parents can enjoy whatever the beach has to offer on their own time. Versatility, prices, and very broad appeal combine to make a tropical location an excellent choice for any family vacation.

Mount Huang was formed approximately 100 million years ago and gained its one-of-a-kind rock formations in the Quaternary Glaciation.

During the Qin Dynasty, Mount Huang was known as Yishan (Mount Yi). In 747 AD, its study was changed to Huangshan (Mount Huang) by imperial decree; the study is commonly thought to have been coined in honor of Huang Di (the Yellow Emperor), a legendary Chinese emperor and the mythological ancestor of the Han Chinese; one legend says that Mount Huang was the location from which the Yellow Emperor ascended to Heaven. Another legend says that the Yellow Emperor “cultivated moral character and refined pills of immortality in the mountains, and in so doing gave the mountains his name. The first use of this study “Mount Huang” is often attributed to Chinese poet Li Bai. Mount Huang was evenhandedly inaccessible and little-known in ancient times, but its change of study in 747 AD seems to have brought the area more attention; from then on, the area was visited frequently and many temples were built there.

In the past, choices in all-inclusive vacations could be restrictive, but today, it is unlikely that the senior will be forced to participate in an activity that does not interest them.

All-inclusive vacations are acquirable on resorts or cruises, in all areas of the world. If you are interested in a particular area, it is very likely that there is an all-inclusive pass to that spot. What to know before scheduling an all-inclusive vacation? Be sure that you comprehend what all is included in the vacation. While it might be necessary for you to pay airfare from a smaller city where you live to a travel hub in a massive city, if there are a variety of “extras” or optional expenses, it should raise a red flag that perhaps this particular all-inclusive pass is perhaps not the ideal pass for you.

Another favourite choice for active seniors is a volunteer vacation. A volunteer pass grants you to visit a different part of the world, learn about the culture, and help others, while still reserving time for relaxation and recreation. Activities for volunteer vacations run the gamut from counting bird eggs to helping kids learn to read. There are options in the United Says as well as many foreign countries. Don’t think that you don’t have skills that are needed. While some volunteers find opportunities to work in the field they were in prior to retirement, there are many opportunities for volunteers with no specialized training.

How to select the right volunteer pass for you? It is important to do volunteer work that you are interested in. If you aren’t an animal lover, counting turtle eggs probably will not interest you that much, even if it is on a beautiful beach. Of course, this does not mean that you should only volunteer for a charity that you are already familiar with. If the work piques your curiosity, and sounds intriguing to you, it will probably be a good vacation. The volunteer work is only one part of the vacation.

How will you spend your off hours? Even though some volunteer vacations are in extremely poor areas with no amenities, it is doable to find a volunteer pass that grants you to work part of the day, and spend the rest of the day resting on the beach, hiking in the woods or enjoying excellent meals. If you have a strong view about what you need for a successful vacation, such as a certain level of accommodations or food preferences, it is important to talk with the pass company primeval in your trip planning, to make sure that it is possible. The most important thing that you can do to ensure you have a good time on your volunteer pass is to talk with others who have finished these vacations and ask if they feel that the company accurately represented the pass to them.

Learning vacations are another favourite choice with seniors. These vacations are a terrific intent for seniors who have not been intellectually stimulated since retiring from the workforce. A learning pass typically devotes several hours a day to honing a particular skill, and the remainder of the time exploring the countryside, taking part in spa treatments, or resting on your own. The things that you can learn on these vacations are limitless; you can take cooking classes in France, horseback riding lessons in Ireland, or language lessons in Spain. Lessons are acquirable for all experience levels, from the rank newbie to the expert looking to hone their skills.

What should senior citizens look for in a learning vacation? Again, talk with past customers of the company you plan to use. If others were satisfied with their experience, and would go on another pass with the same company, that is a pretty strong testimonial. Also, think about what the recreational options are for the trip. It is simple to think that you will be so involved in the learning process that you will not have time to go sight-seeing, but these vacations are specifically designed to wage amble down time, and if you don’t have a plan for how to spend it, you might find yourself painfully bored. An experienced learning pass company will know exactly what recreational activities are perfect for seniors and are acquirable in apiece area. Formulate a plan about how to spend your day, taking into statement your interests and activity level, take plenty of photos and have a great time!
